Farm Service to open one last day for USDA loan payments
WALTERS — Farmers have one last day to address loan-related business before the U.S. Department of Agriculture shuts down the Farm Service Agency once again.
Multiple offices across Southwest Oklahoma will open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in order to facilitate USDA loan payments, continue expiring financial statements and open mail to identify priority items. Danny Cox, farm loan manager with the Cotton County Service Center in Walters, encouraged farmers to stop by as soon as they can because no one knows how much longer the partial government shutdown will continue.
“We have eight hours to work Tuesday and we have no idea beyond that point,” he said. “Everything is up in the air, whether we move forward or not.”
