Miss Oklahoma shares story, offers guidance for Cache students

CACHE — Cache High School students were embraced by beauty pageant royalty Friday with a visit from Miss Oklahoma, Ashley Thompson.

The school auditorium was packed with hundreds of students when the pageant queen took the stage to tell a little about herself and to encourage everyone to follow their dreams — even if it’s owning a farm animal.

“My dream in life is to own a goat,” she said. “I’m an animal lover at heart.”

Dream of being Miss Oklahoma

Thompson shared photos of herself throughout her childhood years growing up — including one of her first and last beauty pageants as a young child. She didn’t start participating in beauty pageants until she was much older — a shock to some, she admitted. Nearly a decade ago, it became another dream of hers to become Miss Oklahoma. But it wasn’t an easy task. She fell short repeatedly and often questioned whether the grueling process was worth the possible reward.
