Drive-by shooting becomes city's first homicide of 2019
Twenty days into 2019, Lawton’s first homicide was recorded following a Saturday night drive-by shooting.
According to the first-degree murder report by Lawton Police Officer Gerardo Vallejo, Tyrone Johnson, 33, died from injuries sustained in the shooting. He was pronounced dead at Comanche County Memorial Hospital.
Lawton police and first responders were called shortly before 7 p.m. to 1702 SW Douglas on the report of a male who had been shot in the stomach and was unconscious and not breathing. Johnson was found unconscious and lying on the ground, Vallejo reported. EMS personnel arrived and attempted to treat him before taking him to Memorial.
